The Thomas Family

The Thomas Family

This scholarship is named in honor of Durward Thomas, Kathryn Reynolds Thomas, Linda Thomas Harris and Keith Thomas.

“My family has deep ties to Murray State. My father, Durward Thomas was a 1933 graduate and played football for Murray. My mother worked as a secretary in the dean’s office during the 1960’s. My sister, Linda Thomas Harris, graduated in 1963 and I graduated in 1967. I want the scholarship to be awarded to a graduate of Tishomingo High School. Again, my family has deep ties to the high schools with the three of us that graduated later at Murray plus Mary Frances Thompson, my great aunt, also known as Te Ata, graduated in 1913 and was salutatorian of her class. Additionally, my aunt Dorothy Thomas was a Tishomingo High School graduate and her future husband, C.J. Powell, coached football at Tishomingo and Murray State.
