Ed and Effie Hanvey

Ed Hanvey graduated from Washita Farm School, Murray State College and Oklahoma State University. He married Effie Wadsworth in 1941. They lived in Amarillo, Texas for many years where he worked as milk plant superintendent for Borden Dairy and later as chief milk inspector for the City of Amarillo, retiring in 1979 after 29 years of service. After moving to Tishomingo in 1981, he became active in the Senior Citizens and Southern Oklahoma Nutrition Programs, was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 91, the Murray State College Foundation and he was Past Master of San Jacinto Masonic Lodge 1330 in Amarillo.

Impact

The Ed and Effie Hanvey Agriculture Endowed Scholarship was established by Ed and Effie Hanvey. The scholarship will be awarded to students who demonstrate a financial need and the amount of the scholarship will vary according to the particular need of the student applying. The scholarship will be awarded to students entering their freshman or sophomore year at Murray State College who are majoring in Agriculture or Agriculture Education. Recipients must be enrolled as full time students and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. This scholarship is awarded for fall and available for spring pending GPA and funding availability.
